Sci Fi

Slow River by Nicola Griffith

Lesbians and sci-fi, how can you go wrong? Not to make it sound like all this book has to offer is novelty (though a sci-fi book by a lesbian about lesbians certainly is a novelty). It is a well-written character study in an extremely believable future setting. The sci-fi elements are fairly muted, taking a back seat to the characters themselves, which may actually be what makes it so believable. Weak points are the small number of characters and minimal story complexity, though this may make it a good introduction to sci-fi for those not already in the genre.
