The Chronoliths by Robert Charles Wilson

At first I wasn't into it, but it developed into a clever tale of time-travel interdependency. The main character is kind of pathetic, and coupled with the "nothing is a coincidence" message, this prevented me from liking it much right away. But it all tied together nicely in the end. The chronoliths themselves are pretty cool, and bonus points for managing to neatly tie together time travel, lesbian physicists, Americans living in Thailand, and civil war references in a cohesive fashion.
